DPJ to form Cabinet before U.N. General Assembly in Sept.: Hatoyama

TOKYO, July 31 Kyodo -
Main opposition Democratic Party of Japan leader Yukio Hatoyama said Friday a
new Cabinet will be formed by Sept. 23 when the U.N. General Assembly starts,
if his party wins the upcoming general election, so new the prime minister and
relevant ministers could attend it.
''The DPJ is focused on the United Nations,'' Hatoyama said. ''We are ready to
handle diplomatic schedules if we win power.''
''It would be difficult (to attend the General Assembly) if we do not establish
our own Cabinet by that time,'' he said.
