PRESIDENT ATTENDS CHILDREN`S ART COMPETITION

Bogor, Indonesia, Aug 1 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended a children's art-work competition at the Bogor Presidential Palace here on Saturday.

The competition was participated in by around 200 students of elementary schools and secondary schools from 33 provinces across the country.

Organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to mark the 64th anniversary of Indonesian independence , the art-work competition consisted of painting, poetry writing, and song writing.

President Yudhoyono in the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono arrived at the palace at 9:30 in the morning and then took a few minutes of his time to take a close look at the children who were creating their art works on the palace grounds.

The competition has been organized annually since 2006 at the initiative of President Yudhoyono, who is also scheduled to have lunch together with the children at noon on Saturday.

Members of the competition's jury this year are Agus Dermawan T, Watie Moerany, and Sri Warso Wahono for painting ; Putu Wijaya, Sapardi Djoko Darmono, and Nano Riantiarno for poetry writing; and Purwacaraka, Djaka Bimbo, and Marusya A Nainggolan for song writing.

President Yudhoyono will give presents to the winners of the competition who will be announce on Saturday afternoon.***
