ORGANISE MULTIRACIAL ACTIVITIES CALL TO M'SIAN STUDENTS ABROAD
From Iswandi Kasan Anuar
MELBOURNE, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysian students overseas have been advised
to organise activities of a multiracial nature involving all Malaysian
communities.
Malaysian International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed,
who made the call, said many activities organised by these students were
confined to certain groups.
"There is a need to organise more activities involving all Malaysian
communities and every individual must be sincere and have respect for one
another," he told Bernama after attending a forum with about 100 Malaysian
students in Australia, at Malaysia Hall.
Mustapa urged the Malaysian mission to play an active role in disseminating
relevant information to the students and to help organise activities involving
all Malaysian communities.
At the forum, Mustapa replied to questions from the students on political
and economic developments in Malaysia, as well as the 1Malaysia concept and the
Internal Security Act (ISA).
He said many of the students understood the 1Malaysia concept but there were
a few who had a vague idea of it as they followed discussion on the concept only
through articles in the media.
Mustapa is heading a trade and investment mission organised by the ministry,
the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (Mida) and the Malaysia External
Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
Mida director-general Jalilah Baba, Matrade deputy chief executive
officer (trade promotion) Dr Wong Lai Sum and the Malaysian high commissioner to
Australia, Salman Ahmad, also attended the forum.
