SPECIAL INFLEUNZA A H1N1 BRIEFING FOR HEADMASTERS, SCHOOL HEADS
IPOH (Malaysia), Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Headmasters and school heads in northern state of Perak would attend a special briefing session to help curb the Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak said state committee chairman for Health, Local Government, Consumer Affairs, Environment, Public Transportation and Non-Muslim Affairs Dr Mah Hang Soon.
Dr Mah said the briefing session would be held soon because such a briefing
was important because they are responsible for what happens in their respective
schools.
"They (Headmasters, School heads) must know what Influenza A (H1N1) is and
what necessary measures to take when students are affected. They will then share
such information in their respective schools," he told reporters here Wednesday.
He added that as of this morning, 8 new Influenza A (H1N1) positive cases
were recorded in the state, raising the total so far to 80 positive cases in
this state.
He added that apart from the 8 reported cases, another primary school was
closed after 16 of 26 students in the school showed symptoms of Influenza A
(H1N1).
"As for the death of a 10-year-old in the state, the mother and her five
other children are receiving treatment at Taiping Hospital and reported
in stable condition while their father is not affected," he said.
The 10-year-old student died at a Health Clinic on Friday due to fever,
cough and breathing difficulties.
"Any signs of the Influenza A H1N1 symptoms or high absenteeism in schools
must be reported to the District Health office for necessary action," he said.
Dr Mah also urged the public to maintain self-hygiene.
