MALAYSIA DPM ARRIVES IN PERTH FOR WORKING VISIT

PERTH Aug 6, (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister
Muhyiddin Yassin arrived here Wednesday night for a five-day working visit.

Muhyiddin was received on arrival at Perth International Airport here by
Malaysian High Commissioner to Australia Salman Ahmad, Consul-General
to Western Australia Hamidah Ashari and embassy officials.

Muhyiddin was accompanied by his wife Noorainee Abdul Rahman,
Education Ministry's Deputy Director for General Education Asariah Mior
Shaharudin, Principal Assistant Director Dr Zubir Hassan and other officials.

The visit was Muhyiddin's first to Australia after being appointed as Deputy
Prime Minister.

On Thursday morning, the deputy prime minister would witness the launching
of the Journalist Exchange Programme between the New Straits Times and The West
Australian newspaper at Osborne Park.

This would be followed with a visit to the Mount Lawley Senior High School
at Woodsome Street here.

After the visit to the school, well known for its sports activities,
Muhyiddin would proceed to the Edith Cowan University for a visit to its Faculty
of Education and Arts.
