MALAYSIAN PM RETURNS HOME AFTER OFFICIAL VISIT TO BRUNEI
SEPANG, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his
wife Rosmah Mansor returned home Thursday after attending the 13th
annual consultation with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in
Brunei.
The Prime Minister who arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in
Sepang at 1.30pm had during his three-day official visit, held discussions aimed
at reaffirming Brunei and Malaysia's commitment to work together towards the
expeditious implementation of elements agreed upon within the framework of the
Malaysia-Brunei Letters of Exchange (LoEs) signed on March 16, pertaining to
demarcation of land and maritime borders.
Najib who had described his visit as a "big milestone" in achieving new
heights in terms of bilateral ties, had also touched on economic integration,
including investment potentials for Brunei investors in the Sarawak Corridor of
Renewable Energy, (Score), Sabah Development Corridor and Iskandar Malaysia in
Johor.
Meanwhile, during a dinner hosted by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah last night,
Najib said Malaysia and Brunei must focus and enhance cooperation in areas of
religion, culture and language.
He added that the Malaysian government was serious in these areas as was
evident through the presence of seven Federal Ministers and two Chief Ministers
in the Malaysian delegation.
"I believe discussions and meetings held between ministers of both countries
has opened up an avenue to explore and enhance cooperation for the benefit of
the people in both countries," he said.
