SIX MYANMARS TO HANG FOR MURDER

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6(Bernama) -- Six Myanmars were sentenced to death by the
High Court here Thursday for murdering their fellow countryman four years ago.

Justice Mohamed Zabidin Mohd Diah held that the six -- Ang Soo Uu
@ Salim, 32, Wing Nyung @ Kasim, 29, Nagu Rashid, 32, Monji @ Abd Karim Hashim,
31, Saidullah @ Soso, 28 and Zaw Oo, 32, had failed to cast a reasonable doubt
on the prosecution's case.

They were found guilty of murdering labourer Sadi Hussin, 21, at Pusat
Bandar Utara, Km 12 Jalan Ipoh at 5.20am on June 26, 2005.

Except for Zaw, who is a car washer, the rest are labourers at the Selayang
wholesale market.

They were also sentenced to three years jail for causing grievous hurt to
Sadi's brother, Shafiq Hussin, 27, with a parang and screwdriver at the same
place and time.


Ang received an additional three years jail for causing grievous hurt to
another Myanmar, Hla Maung Thar, 35, with a screwdriver at the same place and
time.

Counsel A.S.Dhaliwal represented Wing, Nagu and Zaw while the others were
represented by counsel Aminuddin Ibrahim. Deputy public prosecutor Melissa Md
Akhir appeared for the prosecution.
