Air policing of Almaty-Tashkent highway
Taraz, August 07, 2009 (Khabar) - It is planned that soon road police of Taraz will start air policing of the region, since recently the institution have purchased a helicopter. Currently, police are conducting air policing in certain parts of Almaty-Tashkent highways.
A driver has made an overtaking on the mountain pass. Zhambyl region has two mountain passes: Korday and Kuyuk. Although the Almaty-Tashkent is a republic highway, it is very dangerous and the road way is very narrow. Despite these conditions, there are a lot of fast drivers. This year over 100 hundred people were killed and about 200 were injured because of car accidents of this highway.
Kaisar Sultanbayev, head of road police department, Zhambyl regional Department for Home Affairs:
- This helicopter is equipped with all necessary technologies. We are to patrol this region using helicopter. When we will see a violator, we will report about him to road guard.
During the first days of air policing, road police revealed over 3000 violations, such as speeding, unfastened safety belts, driving while drinking. Currently, the situation has changed.

- I would like to say that we are working under the prevention of car accidents in this region.
In order to call drivers for discipline, road police promised to fix the special stand, which will say that “This region is under the control of air police”.
