MALAYSIA TO CONTRIBUTE IN AFGHANISTAN'S LEADERSHIP TRAINING

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has pledged its commitment to contribute towards Afghanistan's reconstruction efforts, including in terms of training for senior Afghan officials.

This was conveyed by Deputy Foreign Minister Lee Chee Leong during a meeting
with an Afghan delegation comprising deputy ministers and senior officials
Wednesday.

During the meeting, Lee told them that Malaysia was prepared to train Afghan
officials under a programme funded by the United Nations Development Programme,

component of the ongoing comprehensive programme of reconstruction,
redevelopment and rehabilitation of Afghanistan," the statement quoted
Lee as
saying.

He said the leadership training programme was in line with Malaysia's
long-standing commitment to international efforts geared towards
developing the
capacity and delivery systems of the Afghan government to deal with the
country's socio-economic challenges.
