PAKISTAN OFFERS HELP TO DEVELOP CRICKET IN MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- World cricket powerhouse, Pakistan have
offered Malaysia a helping hand to develop a world-class cricket team, Pakistan
High Commissioner to Malaysia, Tahir Mahmud Qazi, said Thursday.

Tahir was speaking to reporters at the closing ceremony of an under-17
eight-match series between Malaysia and Mans Sport Foundation of Pakistan at the
Kinrara Oval,a cricket stadium, here.

The envoy said Malaysian cricketers had exhibited their talent by winning
the series.

"It's indeed an apt reflection of their caliber and potential to emerge as
a world class cricket team," said Tahir, calling the visit of the Pakistani
foundation team as a start to cricket diplomacy between the two countries.

Former test cricketer Mansoor Akhtar had offered to train six Malaysian
players at his Cricket Academy in Pakistan for free.

Malaysian Cricket Association president Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar
said the Pakistani team's visit had provided international exposure for budding
Malaysian cricketers and would help them in improving their game techniques.

Though the two teams split the series 4-4, Malaysia managed to win the
final.
