AFRICANS DEALING IN FAKE PASSPORTS NABBED
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Two African men dealing in fake passports
were arrested by the Immigration Department in shop-house raid in Pandan Tengah
here at 11.45pm Wednesday.
City immigration enforcement head, Abang Othman Abang Nornie said the duo,
aged 33 and 35, one from Ghana and the other, Nigeria, were nabbed follwing a
month's surveillance of their activities.
The enforcement team confiscated a computer, printing machine, two laptops,
several security stamps used in forging passports and five fake immigration
department security stickers, he told reporters at his office here Thursday.
Also seized were 30 12-paged passports of various nations, among them Kenya,
Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, Iran, Australia and United States and it was learnt
the two were also trying to forge Malaysian passports.
Abang Othman added that they were also involved in producing fake firearms
licenses.
"We will liaise with the Interpol to investigate further on the licenses for
firearms," he said, adding that both suspects, who were without legal travel
documents, were being remanded for 14 days to assist investigations.
