MAKASSAR STUDENTS BURN FUGITIVE TERRORIST`S PHOTO
Makassar, Indonesia, Aug 16 (ANTARA) - Dozen of students from several universities here Sunday burned the photo of fugitive terror mastermind Noordin M Top to show their nationalism on the eve of the Indonesian independence annual commemoration on August 17.
The students also conducted a procession carrying 64 torches, marking the 64th Indonesian independence day anniversary.
The students' activity symbolized the total destruction of terrorism and separatism movement such as the Free Papua Movement
(OPM), the South Maluku Republic (RMS), and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) in the country.
In the activity students showed their commitment to eradicate terrorism and separatism which can destroy the Unitary State of Indonesia (NKRI).
"Setting fire on the picture of Noordin M Top was a symbol in our efforts to destroy the terrorist and separatist movement. Hopefully, the anniversary observance of the country's independence can become a momentum to eradicate terrorism," one of the students shouted.
Burning the photo of the fugitive top terrorist was expected to enhance the spirit of nationalism to stop the terrorist act committed by Noordin, who came from the neighboring Malaysia. ***
