MALAYSIAN CO TO ESTABLISH MANUFACTURING HUB IN CHINA



KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Cubic Integrated Group will soon establish
its first overseas global integrated manufacturing hub at the Wanzhou Industrial
Park in Chongqing, China.

Its executive chairman, Goh Seng Chong, said the manufacturing hub, to be
built over five years, is estimated to cost about US$400 million.

He said the overseas plant would manufacture home applicances, ranging from
coffee makers to waste disposal units, to cater for the Chinese and overseas
markets.

The hub was expected to contribute US$1.42 billion to group revenue over the
next five years.

Goh was speaking to reporters afer the company signed an investment
agreement with Wanzhou Industrial Park's Administration Commission here Monday.

Asked why the company selected Wanzhou Park to locate its overseas hub, Goh
said, "The Chinese government offers investment schemes such as corporate tax
rebates, likewise, the Three Gorges Dam Area Industrialisation programme and the
Wanzhou Industrial Park's Administration Commission provide atractive tax
incentives."

The plant, with a floor area of over 350,000 square metres, would employ
25,000 people by the end of three years.
