PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO AGAIN LEADS FLAG LOWERING CEREMONY
Jakarta, Aug 17 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono again led a ceremony at the palace compound on Monday afternoon in which the national red and while flag was lowered.
The ceremony was traditionally part of the flag raising/lowering ceremonies held to mark the anniversary of the country's independence.
The Indonesian nation this year marks its 64th independence anniversary from the Dutch colonial government.
The head of state at 10 am led a flag-raising ceremony at the same place to mark moments of the declaration of independence made by the now late first president Soekarno on August 17, 1945.
Various dance performances were shown to the guests an hour before the ceremony began.
President Yudhoyono was flanked by first lady Mrs Ani Yudhoyno, and vice president Jusuf Kalla was also accompanied by his consort Mrs Mufidah Kalla at the ceremony.***
