SHELL MALAYSIA BAGS 10 SAFETY AWARDS
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Shell Malaysia recently won 10 awards --
three Grand, six Gold and one Silver -- from the Malaysian Society for
Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH).
The awards are in recognition of the company's occupational safety and
health management system and practices as well as the continued delivery of
excellent safety performance at its workplaces.
In a statement Tuesday, Shell said the awards were presented under the
Petroleum, Gas, Petrochemical and Allied sector category at the recent 2008
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Awards presentation here.
Both Sarawak Shell and Shell Refining Company won Grand awards for the third
consecutive year, the former for its Bintulu Integrated Facility and the latter
for its Port Dickson Refinery.
Sarawak Shell, in East Malaysia state of Sarawak, also bagged a maiden win
of a Grand award for its offshore F6 Gas Complex.
Shell Malaysia Trading received the Gold Class I award for its Sibu
Installation (in Sarawak state), Sandakan Installation and Sepangar Bay
Installation (in East Malaysia state of Sabah state) and Bagan Luar Installation
(in northern Penang state) while the Pasir Gudang Installation (in southern
state of Johor) and Tanjung Gelang Installation (in east coast state of Pahang)
won the Gold Class II award and Labuan Installation won the Silver award.
The country chairman of Shell Malaysia, Saw Choo Boon, said the company's
outstanding achievements were the result of its sustained efforts and
commitment to excellence in occupational safety and health management systems.
The MSOSH annual safety and health performance awards are intended to
recognise commendable safety and health records as well as improvements by
member organisations and companies.
