LIBYAN AIRLINES SELECTS ONAIR FOR IN-FLIGHT CONNECTIVITY SERVICES
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Libyan Airlines has selected OnAir, the in-flight communications provider, to install mobile and Internet in-flight services on its new fleet of seven Airbus A320 aircraft.
The airline expects delivery of the aircraft in 2010 and will operate them
on routes to Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
In a statement here Tuesday, its chief executive officer, Capt Mohamed M.
Ibsem, said the airline was the first single-aisle operator in Africa to
announce plans to offer passengers in-flight connectivity services.
"The passengers will be able to stay connected in-flight using their own
mobile phones or BlackBerry-type devices to make and receive phone calls, send
and receive text messages and e-mails and access the Internet," he said.
Meanwhile, OnAir chief executive officer, Benoit Debains, said the company
was proud to work with the airline.
"Mobile OnAir provides air travellers with the highest service levels when
they use their mobile phones or BlackBerry-type devices -- and with global
coverage so that no matter where they are flying, they can stay in touch," he
said.
