MALAYSIAN KING TO PERFORM PRAYERS AT NEW PUTRAJAYA MOSQUE
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin will perform the Friday prayers with the people at the new Sultan Zainal Abidin Mosque at Precinct 3 here on Sept 4.
The mosque, which is named after the ruler, will be handed over to the
Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) by Putrajaya Corporation
Thursday.
"The mosque is divided into two main components, namely the mosque complex
and the Kiblat Walk, which is a pedestrian walkway connecting Putrajaya
Corporation to the mosque," Jakim said in a statement.
The mosque will operate officially on Friday for the congregation to perform
the "terawih" prayers in conjunction with the start of Ramadan, subject to the
announcement by the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal on the sighting of the new moon
to determine the start of the fasting month for Muslims.
