UN RAZAK MUSICAL SHOWS HE CARED FOR THE PEOPLE - PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak said that
during the era of the administration of his late father, Abdul Razak Hussein,
who was the country's second prime minister, he had been very concerned about
the people's welfare.

"Top priority had been given to the people in all development policies on
education, the economy and social restructuring," he said in his message in the
souvenir programme on the Tun Abdul Razak Musical.

The Tun Abdul Razak Musical is being staged for five days beginning
Wednesday night by the Akademi Seni Budaya (Arts and Culture Academy) dan
Warisan Kebangsaan (Aswara) or National Heritage, under the direction of
well-known director Abdul Rahim Razali at Istana Budaya here in conjunction with
the national Independence Month celebration.

Najib hoped that he could continue his father's concern for the people
through the 1Malaysia concept - "People First, Performance Now".

He hoped the musical theatre could reflect the priority given to the people
by leaders like his father.

Present at the theatre play were Najib's mother and Abdul Razak's wife,
Rahah Mohd Noah, Information Communication and Culture Minister Dr Rais
Yatim, and his deputy Joseph Salang.

The musical, which lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes, recounted the important
events throughout the leadership of Abdul Razak as the second prime minister
including the formation of the National Operations Council (Mageran), the
formation of Barisan Nasional and the opening of Felda (Federal Land Development
Authority) land .
