MALAYSIA, AUSTRALIA TO DISCUSS HUMAN TRAFFICKING ISSUES

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Australia will discuss human
trafficking issues at a two-day meeting here starting Wednesday.

Home Ministry Secretary-General Mahmood Adam said the working group meeting
would discuss steps to address the problems faced by both countries.

"The meeting is a follow-up of the visit by Home Minister Hishammuddin
Hussein to Australia early this month. Several working papers regarding the
issue will be presented at the meeting," he said in a statement here Monday.

At the meeting, Australia will be headed by Duncan Lewis, who is the
national security advisor to Australian prime minister.

Malaysia will be headed by both Deputy Home Ministers, Abu Seman Yusop on
the first day and Jelaing Mersat on the second day.

Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan will also attend the meeting.

Mahmood said that among the working papers to presented at the meeting are
"People Smuggling Situation Reports", "Cooperative Surveillance" and "Managing
Displaced Populations."
