S. Korean, Chinese counties ink pact on sister relationship

BUAN, South Korea, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- A coastal county in South Korea said
Tuesday it has established a sister relationship Tuesday with China's Wulong, in
another sign of growing economic ties between the two nations.
Buan County, which sits opposite China on the Yellow Sea, and Wulong County,
which is home to a UNESCO heritage site, agreed to enhance cooperation through
student exchanges, investment and tourism promotion.
A pact was signed by Kim Su-ho, Buan County chief, and Wulong County Party
Secretary Liu Qi.
"Buan will promote cooperation with Wulong County, home to world-class tourism
resources and attractions," Kim said at a ceremony marking the signing of the
pact. Liu responded by saying, "For mutual development, we will make every effort
to strengthen our relationship with Buan, a place of abundance historical and
cultural resources."
Wulong County, 130km south of Chongqing, is the location of the Wulong Karst,
part of the South China Karst UNESCO World Heritage Site.
