Peruvian FM due in Seoul next week

SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Garcia Belaunde will
visit South Korea next week to discuss an envisioned free trade agreement (FTA)
between the two nations and various economic cooperation projects, Seoul's
foreign ministry said Thursday.
Belaunde is scheduled to arrive on Monday for a three-day stay and will hold
talks with his South Korean counterpart, Yu Myung-hwan, on Tuesday, the ministry
said.
"The ministers will have consultations on the FTA, South Korean firms' investment
in Peru's energy, natural resources, and infrastructure development, as well as
other development projects and cooperation in science and technology fields," the
ministry said in a press release.
The Peruvian minister also plans to tour oil refineries and chemical factories in
Ulsan, an industrial city 420km southeast of Seoul, for discussions on South
Korea's bid to participate in facility construction in his country.
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak visited Peru last November. During his trip,
the countries upgraded their ties to a "comprehensive partnership."
