SAUDIS DEVELOP "CLEAN" NAQATUBE

DUBAI, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- A group of Saudis have come up with the
"NaqaTube", which has been described as a "clean" alternative to popular
video-sharing website YouTube.

Carrying the logo "Participate With Us In a Clean Website", one of its
moderators said the clips on the new website were religiously safe and free of
women's images and music.

"Clips on NaqaTube are often edited prior to being uploaded," Arab News
quoted Abu Ibraheem as saying of the site which basically features "clean" clips
from YouTube.

"Naqa" means "pure" in Arabic, according to the daily.

He said the religiously-inclined site had received up to 6,000 visitors
since its launch two months ago.

Its front page displays links and screenshots to over 10 channels mainly
featuring scholars, preachers, children and other Islamic-related
material.

"We're promoting a moderate Islam, nothing extreme," said Abu Ibraheem.
