218 NEW CASES OF H1N1 REPORTED, NO DEATH IN MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- No death from Influenza A (H1N1) was
reported Friday but 218 patients were tested positive for the disease in
Malaysia, Director-General of Health Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said.
He said the death toll remained at 71.
Of the new patients, he said, 48 were being treated at the Intensive Care
Unit (ICU), of whom 40 or 83 per cent were from the high-risk group, including
children, infant, new mothers, pregnant women and those with chronic disease,
asthmatic, obesity, heart ailment and kidney problem.
Mohd Ismail said a total of 391 patients with influenza-like-illness (ILI)
were also detected with 293 cases having been discharged from the hospital.
"There are still 1,509 ILI patients being treated at 103 hospitals
nationwide, including four private hospitals," he said in a statement here
Friday.
He also advised those who are healthy to reduce their outdoor activities
and wear masks to prevent infection.
