BE THANKFUL FOR PROSPERITY, DPM TELLS MALAYSIAN MUSLIMS

TANGKAK (Malaysia), Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Muslims should be thankful for the
prosperity and the peaceful atmosphere that evolved over the years, said Deputy
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said Muslims in Malaysia should count their blessings as they were
able to live in harmony without having to endure armed conflicts or the
occupation of foreign forces.

Armed conflicts have stifled the development stride in the war-torn Islamic
countries, causing the people to suffer loses and disruptions in their lives, he
said when presenting aid to mosques here Friday.

He said some independent Islamic countries were still backward due to
internal strife.

On the 52nd independence day celebration, he urged the people to appreciate
the struggle of the previous generation in fighting for the independence.
