MALAYSIA'S ECONOMY EXPECTED TO RECOVER BY YEAR-END

JELI (Malaysia), Aug 29 (Bernama) -- International Trade and Industry
Minister Mustapa Mohamed is confident that the country's economy will recover by
the year-end.

He said that there were signs of the economy performing better following an
increase in demand, coupled with a hike in production by multinational
companies.

"This is a good sign of the economy recovering after a sluggish demand end
of last year," he told reporters here Friday night.

Mustapa also said that the Influenza A(H1N1) pandemic had not affected the
country's overall economic growth although it did somewhat affect the tourism
sector.

"God willing, the country's economy will recover by the year-end," he said.
