HOUSE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT FINISHING CORRUPTION COURT BILL : ACADEMIC
Medan, Indonesia, Aug 31 (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives (DPR) is not serious in finishing the deliberation of the Bill on the establishment of a corruption court, an academic said.
"If the DPR is serious, it is able to finish the deliberations because it has much time," Prof Dr Runtung Setepu of the University of North Sumatra said here on Monday.
He said that the House had three years to deliberate it after the Constitutional Court in 2006 ordered the DPR to finish it in 2009.
Legislators should have taken all steps in accomplishing the deliberations of the bill in the span of about three years, he said.
"A three year period is an enough rational time discuss the bill," he said.
He said that with the term of office of the outgoing DPR members to end on September 30, 2009, it would be unlikely for the legislators to finish the job.***
