NO DEATH FROM A(H1N1) REPORTED
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- No death from influenza A(H1N1) was reported Wednesday while the cumulative death toll remains at 72.
The Influenza A(H1N1) Mortality Review Committee has yet to confirm the
cause of death of three persons aged between 24 and 42 in southern state of
Negeri Sembilan on Sunday.
Health director-general Dr Mohd Ismail said 87 patients with
influenza-like-illness (ILI) were admitted today while 160 more were discharged.
"This brings the number of ILI patients to 1,238 in 106 hospitals, including
12 private hospitals, nationwide. Of them, 264 patients (21.3 per cent) were
confirmed H1N1 positive," he said in a statement.
Dr Mohd Ismail said 39 of the confirmed cases were in the intensive care
units (ICU), including two new cases, while nine patients had been discharged.
He said 74 per cent of those warded in the ICUs were high-risk patients
suffering from chronic diseases (11), obesity (eight), children/babies (four),
post-natal/pregnancy (two), heart disease (two) and asthma (two).
