13th forum of national cinematography of CIS and Baltic states

Moscow, September 03 2009, Khabar - Nine full-length films of 2008 and 2009 were presented during the forum. Kazakhstan presented “Paradise for mother”. Every year Russia welcomes tens of international, regional and Moscow cinema festivals where high-budget films are demonstrated for mass releasing. During this forum cinema critics and film directors from CIS discuss problems of development of modern national cinematography and speak about preserving of common cultural area.
Films from Kyrgyzstan and Estonia opened 6-day marathon. Their films are typical art house for cinema aesthetes with many feelings, emotions and sufferings and few words. Aktan Abdykalykov is the film director of “Paradise for mother”. Mikhail Zhaigalov, Natalya Arinbasarova and Bolat Kalymbetov worked over the film during the year. It is modern drama about difficulties of 1990-s, about force and calmness of woman who had to bring up children without husband.

Gulnara Abikeyeva, cinema critic:
- The film is shot professionally and I think it will take part in world cinema festivals. It has some miracle and magic, beauty and sympathy for common man.

Kazakhstanis will watch “Paradise for mother” this autumn. The participants of the forum consider it is necessary to demonstrate the films also in foreign countries.

Mikhail Shvydkoi, representative of President of RF on international cultural cooperation:
- I know just Kazakhstan with its financial possibilities tries to shoot commercial Hollywood-like films. We should together enter the markets of Central and Eastern Europe, those countries still watch our films.

The organizers of the forum plan to hold competition for the best scenario and after the film is shot, it will have the title “Made in CIS”.
