KOSASIH LOSES WIFE, THREE CHILDREN BY QUAKE

Cianjur, Sept 3 (ANTARA) - Kosasih did not believe that he had lost his wife and three children.

He was on his way home in Babakan Caringin in Pamoyanan village, Cibinong, from Sukanagara village in Cianjur when the powerful quake happened on Wednesday, triggering a landslide that buried his wife and three children.

He believed his children had been buried along with his eldest son's motorcycle.

Minutes after the quake he went to his parents' house located at the farthest end of the village.

"At the time my parents said that their grandchildren had just come to their house," he said.

The front wheel of his son's motorcycle was seen among piles of rocks rising up to 50 meter high and so he believed that their children were also buried there.

Kosasih would not leave the place where he believed his children were buried. He stared at the rock pile hoping rescuers could take out the bodies of his children.

Kosasih said his wife, Juliyah (40) was also buried along with her children and their house. He said he just called her who was at home with his children before the quake happened.

"I called her to ask her to hold our son Indra from leaving to Cianjur where he studies," he said.

Kosasih felt the powerful quake an hour before arriving home but at the time he did not have a slight idea that it had caused a landslide that destroyed his village.

"I only knew about it when I saw the impact of the quake in Pasir Halang and Cicepuk hemlets. There I heard that my village had been buried by rocks from the hill behind it," he said.

"I felt like I did not touch ground. I felt like flying because I believed my wife and children were at home," he said.

Kosasih said he hoped rescuers could find the bodies of his wife and children. "I wish I could have cemetaries for them," he said.

Cianjur is one of the districts in West Java that was hit the hardest in the quake.

So far more than 50 people have been reported killed in the disaster.
