MUSLIMS URGED TO HAVE UNITY SPIRIT OF ISLAMIC BROTHERHOOD
KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister
Muhyiddin Yassin reminded Muslims in the country to have awareness and the
spirit of Islamic brotherhood that was needed to together ensure peace.
He said the unity and peace now needed to be defended by having a strong
spirit of cooperation among all Muslims irrespective of poltical leanings.
"Muslims in the country are very lucky when compared to many Islamic
countries that are faced with many problems.
"They are faced with crisis, clashes and sometimes poverty," he said.
Muhyiddin was speaking after prayers at the mosque of Kampung Teluk Menara,
Manir near here.
Also present were Terengganu Chief Minister Ahmad Said and Home
Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
Muhyiddin said in Malaysia people lived in good conditions and that was why
it was Muslims' obligation to be the backbone of the country, strengthen
congregation and unity amongst themselves.
He said in the democratic system practised in the country anyone can have
different political ideologies but unity needed to be paid attention.
"What needs to be held by Muslims is that unity needs to be strengthened and
could not be neglected just because of political differences," he said.
