MALAYSIA`S FURNITURE EXPORTS TO REACH US$2.82 BILLION BY 2010
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's furniture exports is expected
to reach RM10 billion (US$2.82 billion) by 2010 as the economy recovers by
year-end, said Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Bernard Dompok.
He said the ongoing recession resulted in lower furniture exports of RM3.57
billion in the first-half of 2009 from RM4.11 billion registered in the same
period last year.
"There were renewed orders from overseas markets," he told reporters here
Friday after opening the Malaysian Furniture & Furnishings Fair.
Malaysian furniture is exported to over 160 countries with the main
markets being the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, United Arab
Emirates, Canada and India.
