Working meetings of President of Kazakhstan

Astana, September 04 2009, Khabar – A “North-South” high-voltage power line is to be commissioned in mid September to enhance power supplies for southern Kazakhstan. Such information was announced by the KEGOC chairman Kanat Bozumbayev at a meeting with the head of state, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The President especially focused on power shortages in the southern regions of the country and stated that the solution to such an issue is amongst the top priorities for the KEGOC national company.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan:
- The next important facility is the Moinak hydro-electric power station.

Kanat Bozumbayev, President, KEGOC National Company:
- We are planning to build two 220 kilovolt lines to link Kazakhstan’s energy system with the Moinak hydro-electric power station. The construction will be launched next year to be finished in 2011. It will allow us to fully supply the south of the country with power after the Balkhash power station is put into effect in 2014.

Kanat Bozumbayev also informed Nursultan Nazarbayev about the state of preparations for winter reporting 65% readiness. The work is to be completed by November. The head of state also received the Minister for Environmental Protection. The President asked Nurgali Ashimov to develop an ecological safety project for Kazakhstan for 2020. During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the new opportunities the country obtained after signing the Kyoto Protocol.
