H1N1: NO DEATH, ONLY 126 WITH ILI ADMITTED TO MALAYSIAN HOSPITALS

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia recorded no death due to
Influenza A (H1N1) for the fifth consecutive day, with the death toll still at
73.

However, Health Director-General Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said 126 new
patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) were admitted to hospitals Tuesday.

He also said 40 of the 372 confirmed H1N1 patients were still in the
intensive care unit and they included 25 risk factor cases like those with
chronic illness and respiratory problems, obesity and children or babies.

He also advised parents of students sitting for the Primary School
Evaluation Test (Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah - UPSR) examination, which
began Tuesday, to monitor their children's health.

UPSR is a national examination taken by all Standard 6 (12-year old)
students in Malaysia.

"If their children have influenza like illness, they should take them to
the clinic or hospital for treatment and inform the school so that necessary
action can be taken," he said in a statement here today.
