INDIA’S KINGFISHER TO FLY INTO S'PORE,HONG KONG
By Zakaria Abdul Wahab
SINGAPORE, Sept 9 (Bernama) – India’s Kingfisher Airlines will spread its wings into Southeast Asia by launching two new international routes to Singapore and Hong Kong, next week.
The airline will commence daily non-stop flights from Mumbai to Hong
Kong beginning Sept 16, and to Singapore a day later, the airline said in a
statement Wednesday.
The flights, on the new routes, would be operated using a new Airbus
A330-200, widely billed as the best A330 ever built for any airline, it said.
Kingfisher Airlines Vice President for Global Sales Siva Ramachandran said
given the strong linkages between India and South East Asia, the airline
believed the new routes promised untapped potential to serve discerning
corporate and leisure flyers.
" With Kingfisher Airlines' unparalleled domestic network in India and our
growing international footprint, we are strongly positioned to move forward even
in this challenging environment," he said.
Kingfisher Airlines commenced international operations only last year and
since then has gone on to launch six new international routes from various
Indian cities to London, Colombo, Dubai, Dhaka and most recently to Bangkok.
On its domestic front, the airline, which has a fleet of 71 aircraft, flies
to 65 cities in India.
