CHANGI AND BEIJING AIRPORTS MADE "SISTER AIRPORTS"
By ZAKARIA ABDUL WAHAB
SINGAPORE, Sept 14 Sept (Bernama) – Singapore's Changi Airport and China’s
Beijing Airport were declared "sister airports" on Sunday after both authorities
agreed to establish an arrangement to develop their air hubs.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) Chief Executive Officer Lee Seow Hiang and
Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) President and Chief Executive
Officer Dong Zhiyi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Beijing.
In a statement, CAG said in an increasingly competitive airport industry,
the partnership provided a framework for the two airports to share information
and knowledge and to strengthen their relationship for mutual benefit.
Under the MOU, both parties will collaborate through joint projects,
seminars and staff training in areas including airport management, air hub
development, airport planning, commercial management and service quality
evaluation.
Lee said BCIA, being an important airport hub and key gateway to China
had much in common with Changi airport, including shared philosophies and
beliefs in providing exceptional service and developing their air hubs.
