M'SIAN PM HOPES FOREIGN ENVOYS SUPPORT M'SIA TO CORRECT NEGATIVE

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak hopes that
foreign diplomats will support Malaysia to correct any negative perception given
to the country.

He said this was due to the fact that Malaysia was at times viewed
negatively especially when it came to foreign media coverage.

"I hope you (foreign diplomats) will provide us with the (necessary) support
so that people will understand Malaysia better.

"Sometimes we get negative perception in terms of the coverage of Malaysia.
It is sometimes blown out of proportion.

"We try to manage such things. It is not our intention to portray Malaysia
negatively but it happens," he said.

Najib said this in his speech at the interactive session between him and the
Heads of Mission hosted by Foreign Minister Anifah Aman at Wisma Putra (foreign
ministry), here Monday.

Also present was the Prime Minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor.

Najib also said Malaysia would try its best to project a positive image to
the world.

In terms of foreign policy, he said, Malaysia would continue to work with
all nations.

"We want to see peace, prosperity. We want to work with all nations.

"We should work together to tackle global issues such as in food security,
global terrorism, human trafficking and foster greater understanding on Islam
through dialogue," he said.
