Silk Way 2009 rally has ended
Aktau, September 15, 2009 (Khabar) - The Silk Way 2009 rally has come to an end with Nursultan Nazarbayev, Dmitriy Medvedev and Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov starting the race. The ceremony took place in the city of Turkmenbashy.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan:
- First of all, it is all about strengthening friendship between our countries. We all have access to the Caspian Sea and it should be the sea of friendship. It was a grandiose and interesting event. I would like to wish success to all participants in the rally, especially those from Kazakhstan. Good luck with the last stage of the event.
The Presidents arrived in Turkmenbashy from Aktau where they had an informal meeting of the heads of the Caspian Sea states. After the ceremony, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Dmitriy Medvedev and Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov had an informal meeting with the rally participants. The racers presented the presidents with racing costumes and helmets.
The racers also said they would love the Silk Way rally to become a regular event to rival the Paris-Dakar rally.
