AL-QIRBI: GOVERNMENT AIMS AT ESTABLISHING PEACE IN SAADA
SANA'A, Sep. 15 (Saba)- Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi has said
that the goal of the Yemeni government is to regain peace in Saada
and not to give a chance to terrorism elements to group together and
get prepared for a new battle.
He added that this is the option of the government which gave a
number of conditions for al-Houthis and called them to accept them,
affirming readiness to hold dialogue over the various issues.
In an interview with Aljazeera satellite channel on Monday, he said
"we have always said that military solution is not the solution but
it makes it easy to reach a solution and, therefore, the military
operations are to rescue civilians in Saada."
He also said that the government resorted to the military action to
reach that goal and the door is open if the rebels want to start a
dialogue with the government within the framework of the
constitution and law.
In response to a question on the possibility to re-open the dialogue
door through the Doha agreement, he said Doha principles are
included in the six conditions which the government set, noting that
the Doha agreement, violated by al-Houthis themselves, created a
part of this problem because it gave al-Houthis the feeling that
they can stand in front of the government.
Asked about if the government wants by the war to weaken al-Houthis
and put them in a critical situation, he made clear that al-Houthis
are Yemeni citizens and the government bears responsibility to
protect all Yemenis and not to cause bloodshed, but the government
is responsible to protect public security and peace in Yemen and its
unity, and so it will use weapons to keep these pillars erected.
