USE 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT AS GUIDE TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysians should overcome challenges
which crop up as a result of the world economic situation and socio-economic
constraints by using the "1Malaysia: People First, Performance Now" concept as
the guide.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the
concept, mooted by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, focused on
nurturing and strengthening unity among the people.

"Every Malaysian, whether in the public or private sector, should give
priority to performance to achieve the best possible result for the benefit of
the country, family and society," he said in a Hari Raya message here Thursday.

On the Aidilfitri celebration, Koh said the tradition of hosting open houses
as well as visiting each other, could enhance social integration and should be
encouraged, especially among the young generation.

"Aidilfitri is a symbol of victory for Muslims after successfully going
through a month of fasting, as well as training themselves to carry out
religious obligations and keep away from sins," he added.
