HEALTH FORM ONLY FOR PEOPLE FROM "YELLOW FEVER" ENDEMIC COUNTRIES
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Tourists arriving in the country do not
have to complete a health declaration form during the mitigation period of
Influenza A(H1N1) except those people coming or returning from countries where
Yellow Fever is endemic, Director-General of Health Dr Mohd Ismail
Merican said Thursday.
Nevertheless, he said, the Health Ministry continued to conduct tests for
body temperature at entry points and distributed the health alert card to remind
visitors of the necessary action to take if they developed influenza-like
illness (ILI).
Dr Mohd Ismail said no deaths due to H1N1 were reported over the 24 hours up
to 8am today, and the death toll remained at 76.
He also said that 156 people with ILI were admitted to hospital over the 24
hours up to 8am while 189 were discharged.
"This leaves 881 ILI patients at 98 hospitals, 11 of them private,
throughout the country. Of these patients, 141 have been confirmed H1N1
positive," he said.
Of the 141, thirty patients were under intensive care after seven were
discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he said, adding that 23 of the
cases were in the risk category.
Dr Mohd Ismail advised the people to continue to practise personal hygiene
and seek medical treatment immediately if they had symptoms of ILI.
Information and developments on Influenza H1N1 can be obtained over the
telephone at the 03-8881 0200 or 03-8881 0300 hotlines between 8am and 5.30pm or
via email at cprc_h1n1@moh.gov.my or the ministry's website at
