Germany, RF Far East to coop in shipbuilding, APEC summit run-up
KHABAROVSK, September 18 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's Far East is
interested in the participation of German companies in such spheres as
"shipbuilding, the construction of APEC summit sites in Vladivostok and
the development of processing industries," Russian presidential
plenipotentiary representative in the Far East Federal District Viktor
Ishayev said at a meeting with German Ambassador to Russia Walter Jurgen
Schmid, who arrived here on Friday for the Days of German Culture in the
city.
The Russian presidential envoy stressed the importance of the
development of cultural ties and noted the successful work of the Society
of Russian-German Friendship.
The meeting highlighted economic cooperation between Germany and
Russia's Far East. "Russian constituent territories are ready to receive
the delegations of German companies in order to discuss in detail further
cooperation," Ishayev noted.
Walter Jurgen Schmid confirmed that German companies also expressed
interest in the participation in many projects in Russia's Far East. The
shipbuilding is a promising field for bilateral cooperation, as "the
experience of German specialists, the technologies applied in the
construction of superships can be useful for Russian shipbuilders."
"German achievements in the building industry can be applied at
construction sites for an APEC summit," the ambassador believes.
"We are ready for cooperation at facilities that are under
construction for an APEC summit, can send a delegation of our
businesspeople and discuss concrete issues at the summit venue. We did so
in Sochi, and it was a success," Schmid said. "The quality of projects,
rather than their number is important," he said.
