Clean Caspian-2009 tactical training exercises

Aktau, September 19 2009, Khabar - Aktau has witnessed large-scale tactical training exercises called “Clean Caspian-2009”, as part of which participants were to clean up the aftermath of oil spills. According to the scenario of the training exercises, the oil spill was approaching the shore. Several minutes later, an emergency operation centre was established and the “Morskoi yastreb” ship and barge for collecting oil were sent to the location of the spill. The clean-up operation required such modern equipment and materials as oil absorbent booms, vacuum oil collectors and reservoirs for the storage of oil products. The emergency situation was brought under control within two hours.

Nurlan Sirazhayev, head of labour and environment protection department, “KazMunaiGas” National Company” JSC:
- Currently, we are ready to respond quickly to such emergency situations as oil spills. I would like to say that today’s exercise proved that the “KazMinaiGas” National Company” is able to overcome the aftermath of oil spills.

Ecologists and representatives of nongovernmental organizations believe that the “Clean Caspian-2009” tactical training exercises were successful.
