Eight Korean short stories to be published in Spanish in Argentina
SEOUL, Sept. 19 (Yonhap) -- A book containing eight short stories, written by
Korean authors including postwar novelist Son Chang-sub, will be published in
Spanish in Argentina shortly, the Korea Foundation said Saturday.
Argentine novelist and literature critic Oliverio Coelho personally selected the
stories which will be published under the book, titled "JI-DO," the state-run
foundation said in a press release.
Seven other authors to be introduced are Lee Dong-ha, Kim Young-ha, Ha Song-nan,
Park Min-kyu, Kim Seung-ok, Im Cheol-woo and Cho Sun-jak, it said.
Coelho, considered one of the most influential authors in the third world, called
the publication "highly meaningful" in introducing Korean literature to Argentine
readers, according to the foundation.
The publication comes after Argentina and South Korea forged cultural ties last
summer, seeking to increase exchanges especially in the literature sector.
The state-run Korea Literature Translation Institute plans to promote the book
during the Buenos Aires International Book Fair which will open at the Argentine
capital next year.
