Woman dies after fall from mini-bus
A mother-of-four killed when she fell out of a minibus on the way home from a
Christian camp, died doing what she loved, her distraught husband said.
Cathy Scott, 45, had been chaperoning children at the camp in Sydney.
The group was travelling back home to the NSW mid-north coast when the accident
occurred 4km from Warnervale.
Ms Scott, the wife of Forster's Christian City Church minister Tim Scott, was trying
to secure the bus door when she fell out of the vehicle late on Saturday night.
She was airlifted to the Royal North Shore Hospital with head injuries and died on
Sunday morning.
None of the children was injured in the incident.
In a statement released to the Seven Network, Mr Scott said his wife had died "doing
what she loved".
Seven reported that Ms Scott's four children, aged between 12 and 18, were on the
minibus at the time of the accident.
Church pastor Peter Flower said Ms Scott's death was a shock to the Forster-Tuncurry
community.
"She was just one of those people that lightened up the room the moment she walked
in," he told Seven.
"(She had) a beautiful smile."
Friend Denise Green drove past the accident shortly after it occurred.
"I think there are a lot of people in our community who are really shocked by the
news of her death," she said.
The driver of the bus, a 55-year-old man, was taken to Warnervale Hospital for
mandatory blood and urine tests.
A report will be prepared for the NSW Coroner outlining the circumstances of Ms
Scott's death.
