THAI KING IN HOSPITAL

By D. Arul Rajoo

BANGKOK, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest-serving monarch, remains in hospital Monday after being hospitalised for fever and fatigue.

The Royal Household issued a statement saying that King Bhumibol, who turns
82 in December, is being treated with antibiotics.

Hundreds of Thais flocked to the Siriraj Hospital on the bank of the Chao
Phraya River after local media reported that the revered King has been
hospitalised since Saturday night.

King Bhumibol, the ninth king of the Chakri dynasty, ascended to the Thai
throne in 1946.

The King has developed a large area within his Chitralada Palace grounds as
research and experiment centre, including paddy fields and dairy milk processing
factory.
