MALAYSIA: STIMULUS PACKAGES TO HAVE POSITIVE IMPACT ON BUDGET 2010
BACHOK (Malaysia), Sept 23 (Bernama) -- Deputy Finance Minister Senator Dr
Awang dek Hussin expects the 2010 Budget to be tabled in parliament next month
to ave a more positive effect on the country's economic growth.
He said the budget would be linked to the economic stimulus packages now
under implementation in an effort to boost national economic growth.
"We believe the two stimulus packages being implemented by the government
will have a positive impact on the 2010 Budget to be tabled (in parliament) by
the prime minister next month," he told reporters at his Aidilfitri open house
in Kampung Perupok near here Tuesday.
Dr Awang Adek said the implementation of the first stimulus package had been
almost completed while the second package was in the process of implementation.
"The monitoring is very close, and we have a special monitoring committee in
the Ministry of Finance which meets every week," he said.
Dr Awang said Malaysia, as a major exporting country of the world, had the
capacity to emerge almost unscathed from the global economic downturn.
"Therefore, when the world economy recovers, we will be able to increase our
volume of exports and attract bigger investments," he said.
