US decision on ABM defense paves way for new configuration-Medvedev.

PITTSBURGH, September 26 (Itar-Tass) -- The United States' decision to
drop its plans for placing missile defense components in Eastern Europe
paves the way for creating a new defense configuration that will protect
all countries, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told a news conference at
the end of his visit to the United States. Medvedev took part in the
general political debate at the UN General Assembly session and in the G20
summit conference.
"We have ideas of how to implement it," he said.
Medvedev confirmed the possibility of concluding a new strategic arms
missile treaty with the United States by December.
"I have the feeling we are moving on well," he said.
The Russian president spoke highly of the UN Security Council's
resolution.
"It is a good resolution, it makes a tangible contribution to the
non-proliferation and reduction of nuclear arms," Medvedev said adding
that Russia supported the United States on the issue.
He believes that the very instance the national leaders voted for the
Security Council's resolution indicates the framework of the UN Security
Council and the United Nations has grown stronger.
