POSITIVE ATTITUDE CAN PRESERVE RACIAL UNITY, SAYS MINISTER
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The positive attitude adopted by Malaysians of various races will help preserve unity that has existed among them, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr Koh Tsu Koon said.
"We have to continue to have a positive attitude although there are
differences among us. The important thing is we should also be progressive and
liberal, as well as learn from one another," he said when opening a Lion Dance
performance at the University of Malaya here.
Koh said Malaysians should accept the differences that existed among them
and to find similarities which they could share.
On a proposal by the the University of Malaya's Lion Dance Association to
open its membership to all races, Koh said it was a good move and in tandem with
the concept of 1Malaysia mooted by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
Earlier, Universiti Malaya deputy vice-chancellor of student affairs,
Associate Professor Dr Azarae Idris, said it would also enhance racial
integration at the university.
