Common national system of public health in Kazakhstan
Astana, September 29, 2009 (Khabar) - The common national system of public health will allow for eradicating corruption in hospitals, announced the Kazakh minister for healthcare Zhaksylyk Doskaliyev in Almaty. He met with the heads of the city’s medical organizations and explained the new model’s way of operation. According to the minister, the common system will make it possible to create a competitive environment in the market of medical services. Patients will be able to choose doctors and health care facilities freely. Therefore, every hospital’s staff will be interested in using high-technology diagnosis and treatment techniques. Apart from that, medical treatment fees will be carried out strictly on the basis of actual costs. A central committee for medical service payment alongside its territorial representations in regions is being created for this purpose. In additional to this, common tariffs for guaranteed medical aid will be developed as well. The common national system of public health will start working from the 1st of January next year and will be implemented in two stages.
Zhaksylyk Doskaliyev, Kazakh healthcare minister:
- It’s a flexible system, so any disadvantages can be eliminated instantly. The most important thing is that it enables us to use those means that we have clearly and transparently.
