Realization of “New industrialization” programme

Ust-Kamenogorsk, October 01, 2009 (Khabar) - The discussion of prospects of the Republic’s metallurgical industry was among the priorities of a business trip of the Minister for Trade and Industry of the country, Aset Isekeshev to Ust-Kamenogorsk. New industrial projects in Eastern Kazakhstan companies are called upon to link producers and scientists. Vniitsvetmet is referred to as the motherland of new technology. Now, scientists are holding experiments on reduced-enrichment ore. This topic is very promising as the number of deposits is reducing worldwide.

Nikolai Ushakov, Vniitsvetmet Company director:
- When a sample from a new deposit is sent abroad it is always accompanied by some banking issues. It can also be used for the creation of a similar research base in Kazakhstan. We also issue certificates for such projects.

Aset Isekeshev, Minister for Industry and Trade of RK:
- We are also planning to create a metallurgy centre in Ust-Kamenogorsk to deal in non-ferrous and rare-earth metals. We can see the project being implemented on time. I think the project will be launched in the second quarter 2010.

The metallurgical centre will unite all of the region’s largest enterprises to develop the necessary documents and carry out scientific research.

Aset Isekeshev, Minister for Industry and Trade of RK:
- The metallurgical programme, which is now being developed by the government, stipulates a switch to new deposits. We will also be looking into new factories for ready metallurgical products including pipes and other merchandise designed for communal management and machine-building.

One more large innovative project is also about to be finished in the country. The metallurgical industry comprises a complex of new technologies. Despite a reduction in output, the company managed to build a tangible investment policy and implemented its ideas. Under the Presidential “New industrialization” programme, the Eastern Kazakhstan region is planning to renew the technology used at the region’s largest enterprises to enable a rapid implementation of the most promising projects.
